Madeira Activities..When it comes to Madeira activities, the island for sure doesn't lack its big share of it. Only if you walk through Funchal, the capital, you will realize that the tourists are swarming around to get at least a glimpse of everything. Even if most of the tourists coming to the island are more than 40 years old, you can still find some Madeira activities for younger people. And try as many as possible, of course accordingly to your preferences.
Madeira Activities
The range of activities is large and also because the weather generally doesn't change so much you have the chance to try them almost all year round. The activities is usually related to the Island tours, levada walks, bird watching, fishing, boat trips, paragliding, surfing, etc. Doesn't sound so bad and the best thing is that you can choose activities which are more demanding or some which require you only to relax.
Watersport is one of the favorite Madeira activities for the people in love with the sea, there is sailing, fishing, whale and dolphin spotting, water skiing, surfing, diving and of course swimming. Also, if you plan to get a broad perspective over the island, try to go and see as many places as possible. You have more access to Madeira activities by renting a car and not buying a tour ticket, sometimes is even better if you avoid the fast and very easy to get by Via Rapida. The new roads were built to ease the access from different parts of the island mainly towards the capital, but you can still find the beautiful old roads. And if you decide to go on those ways, try the coastal road from the north, starting Sao Vicente and heading towards Porto Moniz.
Try an afternoon in Monte also, by going with the
cable car, which also offers you a complete view over the capital. And if you want an alternative way to get back to Funchal, you can always try the carro do cesto, a traditional toboggan the Madeirenses used so to get to Funchal.
If you haven't yet seen a whale, you can take a tour with a boat that can cost you around 25 euros and it includes whale, dolphin and turtle spotting.
