Fenton Park
The entrance of Fenton Park is adorned by four large flower beds, planted with vibrant colours. The hanging baskets contribute to the inviting ambiance of the entrance.
Fenton Park
The main entrance of the park is off Victoria Street. Experience the dazzling display of light when entering the park through the main entrance for an early morning stroll during summer. The sun is reflected off the early morning dew in stark contrast to the dark silhouettes of the trees. This presents a challenge to any keen photographer to capture both the highlights and the shadows.
The park is kept in immaculate condition. All the lawns are neatly mowed, edges done properly and a wide variety of plants provides sufficient diversity for everyone to enjoy.
Fenton Park's tarred walkways are well maintained making it an ideal location for disabled visitors and parents with babies. Benches have been placed in pleasant locations, inviting visitors to linger longer.
Different gardening styles have been used to create an exciting venue. This adds to the enjoyment of the visit. The most notable is the formal garden near the centre of the park. Four paths lead to the obelisk. Circular hedges provide the structure around the central obelisk. Four benches have been placed next the hedges ender arches planted with climbing roses. The rose theme is developed further through the rose beds on the terraces overlooking the sunken centre of the garden.
Another prominent feature of Fenton Park is the rockery planted near the main entrance. This rockery has been planted up with a large variety of plants. In summer this provides a beautiful display of colour.
Fenton Park RockeryThe many different tree species provides lovely shade and a habitat for the squirrels and birds. The squirrels are quite shy, and quickly climb up to the upper branches of the trees when visitors approach. This makes it difficult to photograph them; however your patience will be rewarded. The trees also provide darker shade for mosses and toadstools to grow. A little exploring will reward you with interesting sights and things to photograph.
Entrance to the park is free.
